The Core Gaming Counter-Strike:Source team has secured their ESEA playoffs seed with a
14-2 record in regular season play. The team is, in typical fashion, actually
disappointed in this finish; they feel like both of their losses were due to poor preparation and roster issues.
The real test begins in a week or two when the playoffs schedule is released. Some of the best teams in Intermediate have been cloistered away in the Eastern conference, including
Area 51 Gaming, the team that beat Core in the CEVO-Main finals, and
Spire, who remain undefeated so far.
The squad is optimistic about their chances; Jeff "SickOne" Lima AKA RIFLEKING had this to say
Quote:

"Our expectations into playoffs is that we're going to in and make it with ease until upper brackets where we hope to see Area 51 once again. This time, the odds will be in our favor :]"

As the team steps up their practice schedule for playoffs, another event looms on the horizon. The
CEVO Pro-Am tournament will begin in roughly a month, and due to their second-place finish in Main last season, cG will be competing in the Professional division of the event. They will face teams such as eMazing Gaming, Cyber-Revolution, and Dynamic.
While hopes of winning the event may seem far-fetched, the squad intends to approach these star-studded matches with the same diligence and determination they bring to any other team.
