If you're looking for cheap yet good quality, check out the plantronics range. I have a fairly entry level headset that really does a good job. Very happy =]

Razer | For Gamers. By Gamers.? | Online Store - Razer Megalodon Elite 7.1 Gaming Headset | Buy Razer Megalodon

im very pleased with these so far. i had a couple issues with drivers out of the box with windows 7 but once i got them set up its got great quality sound (a little loud for others sometimes but with the external controls thats easy to fix), has support for 7.1 surround as well as regular 2 channel, and is terribly comfortable for extended gaming sessions.

I have Plantronics too. They are Gamecomm 377s and while they are the most amazing headphones ever, they sound amazing considering the price ($50) and are very very comfortable. I love em very much.

On newegg.com you can get em for $35... which at that price makes them a steal

Fourthing the Plantronics love, I've got a pair of 367s ($25 at Amazon) which have lasted for ages, sound awesome and are nice and comfy.

I'd suggest a SteelSeries 5Hv2, a really good one imo.
