Facebook out to own the world?

Some of you may have heard Facebook is set to launch a rival to Gmail and Hotmail as early as Monday 22nd November, after Mark Zuckerberg called a vaguely "surprise" conference recently to announce his new beast.

This appears to have google & MS fairly scared, and with the increasing power of Facebook's stranglehold on its information, it's looking to become an intranet of information, on the web - something very damaging to the likes of google.

What do you guys think? I'm personally up for an oli.petas@facebook.com email address, but would you guys really switch, go through all the hassle of changing, and such? I'm not particularly concerned by Facebook, Google, or Microsoft owning the world as I like them all in their own ways and am not hugely fussed about either company knowing that I prefer jam donuts to custard ones, or other such "private" details about me - the one I have my eye on is Apple, the root of all evil.
