A few Euro friends of mine helped me pimp out a phproxy to use it when they gave me an invite right at its inception. I long since quit, since I actually prefer grooveshark. My proxy has died, since.
Maybe when it takes off on this side of the Atlantic it stands a chance, especially since all 5 major record labels are on this side of the world, and would be more accepting of its presence.

it's a music player, free download online at Spotify ? A world of music - it's a trial version you'll get free. I pay £10 per month subscription to remove ads.
It's a music library. 100% legal, and has all the music you could ever think of, no matter how diverse you search (nearly). It links in to your facebook profile too. You can make your own online playlists, share them with fb friends, and link to other friends. It's a musical revolution!

it runs online, but there's also a paying version where you download your playlists to your pc, laptop, or mobile phone. I think it's about £20 per month.

Basicly spotify streams good quality music to you,
been using it since its dawn (had to get an invite) and i basicly dont download music anymore cause everything is available in spotify.
